Anybody been to the new shopping centre yet? Love it/hate it/indifferent? I've had a couple of walks around and was there yesterday in the pouring rain while Ali Vowles was doing a live news item. I love the new look (small caps) and layout of the...

I think this is part of a national review of all 50mph and 30mph speed limits. There have been a few requests to the town council to ask Wiltshire Council to review various speed limits around the town. Personally, I don't think it helps make road...

Well, some good news and some not so good news. I was pleased to be able to register with the Melksham one in July. I was told there was a 10-week waiting list for first appointments but that they would send a letter nearer the time. Three months ...

Idea-swapping sounds brilliant Neil. Less of a rival and more of a friend! We're looking towards similar things and getting Corsham connected - the more ways in which Corsham people can get involved and the more websites, discussions and places there are - the better!

Best and worst things about living in Corsham?
Lovely, quiet, historic town of a nice size with a community feel and peacocks. Close to centres such as Bath and Bristol, yet far enough away to have its own identity and a rural feel.

Worst things: No train station! No NHS dentists around for many miles.

Railway Walks Part 1

A few evenings ago, I drove myself and little miss baby to Warmley to embark on the first of what I plan to be a series of railway walks. I parked the car close to the signal box and set myself the challenge of getting to the next station and back. Warmley station marked the start of the walk. Not sure why, but I didn't take a photo of the station. Wish I had now. It has some evocative silhouettes of commuters standing on the old platforms. Anyway, I was soon past it and was head down, marching… Continue

Day trippin'

Friday before last, we trogged down to Minehead. After a wrong turn that took us off course for about 30 miles, we finally arrived.

Can't remember going there before. It's got a harbour and everything.

To the beach and beyond

Earlier this month, off we went to the beach. Severn Beach that is. Not quite a "buckets and spades" beach, but pleasant nonetheless.

It has sand-dune-like grass.

Free to non-collector

Well, an advert I placed in the Trade-It last week for a sofa I no longer need certainly generated a lot of interest. Having placed it in the "free to collector" section, I've had of the order 10 calls. The end result, sadly, is, as yet, not so positive.

Here's just a selection of the calls I've received.

Caller 1: Sounds keen. Calls several times while I was out and leaves a message, wanting to find out the width of it.
"Two metres" said I.
"Oh" came the reply, "I shall have to do some measur… Continue
