Earlier this month, off we went to the beach. Severn Beach that is. Not quite a "buckets and spades" beach, but pleasant nonetheless.

It has sand-dune-like grass.

And quite a desolate feeling.

There are sweeping views of the bridge.

And a nice rustic railway station.

I had to take this next photo surreptitiously due to local "yoofs" hanging around in the platform shelter.

Onwards to Avonmouth village, which has a working level crossing.

A quick whistle down the Portway to Sea Mills for a pasty and chips next to the harbour and then we headed for the Downs at Bristol. A whole line of about seven identical sports cars. What are the chances of that happening? It's just as if it was planned.

Lovely views over the edge.

One of the information signs informs me that the Portway itself was a railway line to Avonmouth until about the 20s or 30s (I forget which).

A quick ice cream and tour of some other areas of Bristol and then it was home.
